Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone from the United States clocked her personal best time in the 400m at the USATF NYC Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold level meeting.
The reigning Olympic and World champion and World record holder in the 400m hurdles, McLaughlin-Levrone won the 400m at Icahn Stadium at Randalls Island Park in New York City with an impressive personal best of 49.51 seconds. Fellow country women’s sprinter Gabrielle Thomas took second place in 50.29 as Jamaican Charokee Young was third in 51.22.
McLaughlin took 0.2 seconds off her previous personal best in the distance. Just two weeks ago, on her season debut at the Paris Diamond League, she clocked 49.71, shaving 0.3 seconds off her personal best time.
McLaughlin-Levrone will defend her 400m hurdles title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August.
